    Matthew received his Masters of Science in PA studies in 2009 from the College of Health Sciences at Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology at North Dakota State University in Fargo. Matthew is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is Physician Assistant Certified Eligible. He has completed Clinical's in Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine and Cardiology. Matthew has additional experience as a Bioanalytical Lab Assistant at Pracs Institute, Ltd. in Fargo, ND, where his responsibilities included preparing and analyzing pharmaceutical drug samples as well as collecting blood samples, checking study participant's blood pressure, vital signs, respiratory rates, EKGs, supervising study participants for adverse effects and preclinical study participant screening. Matthew works with Dr. Nicholas Wills as a Physician Assistant at the Summit Spinecare locations in Eagan, Minnesota and Woodbury - Woodlake Center.

    Dr. John Dowdle specializes in the nonsurgical management of back and neck pain at Summit Spinecare. He is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon as well as a Diplomate of the National Board of Physicians and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Dowdle specializes in the non-surgical care of low back pain and neck pain, as well as occupational medicine. He enjoys working with the young athlete, and patients with stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal). He was awarded his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. Dr. Dowdle completed his residency at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Minnesota State Medical Society, North American Spine Association, American College of Spinal Surgeons. Locally, Dr. Dowdle belongs to the Ramsey County Medical Society. Dr Dowdle has made numerous professional presentations and contributed to many publications in the fields of spine and orthopaedics.     Cami Stenquist has been with Summit Orthopedics since 1991. She attended Anoka Ramsey College in Anoka, MN. Cami started her career in medicine in 1986 as a Surgical Technician at Metropolitan Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. She has worked as an Orthopedic Physician Assistant Research Assistant for Dr. Stephen D. Kuslich. While working with Dr. Kuslich, Cami helped with a Lumbar MRI Evaluation for Implant Design study, as well as the evaluation of an “Origin of Low Back Pain and Sciatica” study. Cami is board certified with the National Board of Orthopedic Physician Assistants. Cami has made several presentations at the Minnesota QRC Annual Conference. She is a member of the American Society of Orthopaedic Physician’s Assistants and the North American Spine Society.     Thomas J. Cesarz, M.D.

    Dr. Thomas J. Cesarz joins Summit Spinecare in Minneapolis / Saint Paul Minnesota after completing an Interventional Spine Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Dr. Cesarz is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He focuses on providing non-surgical treatment options to those with back and neck problems. At Summit Spinecare, Dr. Cesarz is involved with evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of back and neck pain problems, including the use of EMGs and spinal injections.

    He earned his medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Rochester in Rochester. He has served as Attending Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester. Dr. Cesarz has been involved in various research studies, including studies on “Spinal Stenosis and Aquatic Therapy” and “Satisfaction with pain control and improvement in functional status of patients with spinal stenosis”. Dr. Thomas Cesarz has made multiple presentations to residents and faculty on topics ranging from “Common Physical Modalities” to “Aquatic Therapy.” Dr. Cesarz has been published in the Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine and has collaborated on several books including, The Comprehensive Treatment of the Aging Spine: Minimally Invasive and Advanced Technique and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation: Contemporary Perspectives in Rehabilitation.

    Dr. Cesarz was awarded an Emerging Solutions in Pain Scholarship to attend the American Pain Society Conference in Washington D.C. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Cesarz's clinical interests include spine care, aquatic therapy, and physical modalities.

    In his spare time, Dr. Cesarz enjoys spending time with his family, reading, hiking and weightlifting.

    Dr. Kristen Zeller is an Interventional Pain Specialist at Summit Spinecare in Minnesota. She is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. Dr. Zeller specializes in nonsurgical pain diagnostics and treatment, including rehabilitation, physical therapy and injection therapy. She works with each patient to determine the onset of pain and then uses her knowledge to find the optimal treatment option. Kristen completed her undergraduate work at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Institute of Technology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis. Dr. Zeller completed a residency in Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology at Loyola University Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Resident. To further her education, Dr. Zeller completed a Pain Management Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology.     Sara Shupe, MSPT, Dip. MDT

    sara shupe physical therapy st paul minneapolisSara joins the Summit Spinecare Physical Therapy Department with experience in mechanical progression of exercise, manual therapy, postural and ergonomic re-education to ensure optimal outcomes for spine and extremity musculoskeletal disorders. She is the 301st practitioner worldwide to complete the Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Dip. MDT) with The McKenzie Institute International in New Zealand. The Dip. MDT has been achieved by less than 350 therapists worldwide and requires over 2000 hours of continuing education, residency, and competency testing. MDT is a biomechanical algorithm which identifies the effect of movements, positions, and activities on a patient’s pain and functional disability. This algorithm has been studied in over 50 randomly - controlled clinical trials and has been proven to be highly reliable and valid in the identification and treatment progression of mechanical back and neck pain. Sara completed a Masters of Science of Physical Therapy (MSPT) at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Before joining Summit Spinecare, Sara led a spine specialty and marketing group. She has experience teaching continuing education courses about Spine Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy to therapists, RNs, CNPs, and MDs.

     

     

    Kelly Stadelman, PT

    Kelly specializes in the evaluation and treatment of a variety of orthopedic, spine and occupational injuries. She has a background of diagnosing and treating a variety of sports, orthopedic and neurological conditions. At Summit Spinecare in Minneapolis / St. Paul, she helps patients get back to activity by customizing home exercise programs for spine patients. This can help restore activity levels.     She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and graduated Summa Cum Laude at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Kelly next earned a Master of Arts in Physical Therapy at The College of St. Scholastica.

    To improve her training and education, Kelly attended a presentation by Mark Bookhout, PT, MS, FAAOMPT on Exercise as an Adjunct to Manual Medicine. She has completed additional training at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. Classes attended include Muscle Energy and Principles of Manual Medicine.

    Kelly is actively completing the requirement for advanced credentials in spine therapy from the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM).
